March 14, 2006 INDIANAPOLIS - Lewis University junior Michael Lapustin earned All-America honors in two events at the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships. Lapustin finished sixth in the 200 backstroke in 1:51.64 and seventh in the 100 backstroke in :50.16. Both times are school records, surpassing Lewis standards set by Lapustin earlier this season at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference Championships. Lapustin's sixth-place performance in the 200 backstroke is the highest NCAA Championships finish for a Lewis male swimmer. He increased his All-America award total to four, adding to a seventh-place finish in the 100 backstroke and a 10th-place effort (honorable mention) in the 200 individual medley last season. |
