ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - The Lewis University swimming teams had mixed results over the weekend as they split a pair of dual meets against NCAA Division I Wisconsin-Green Bay and NCAA Division III North Central January 16-17. The men's and women's teams lost to Wisconsin-Green Bay and beat North Central. Against UWGB, the men lost 55-98, while the women fell 75-111. Michael Lapustin was the Flyers' lone event winner as the freshman won the 100 backstroke in 53.66. However, both men's and women's teams produced an abundance of second-place finishers; the women had nine runner-up placings and the men had eight. Most notably, Michelle Sliva swam a 1:01.45 in the 100 butterfly, and Brittany Reetz clocked a 55.07 in the 100 freestyle. A day later, Lewis handily beat North Central. The men won 83-55 and the women beat the Cardinals 118-89. The Flyer women produced an event winner in seven of ten events, while the men were victorious in six events. The Flyers next meet will be their final home meet of the season. Lewis hosts a dual meet against Indianapolis at 4 p.m. Friday, January 23. |
