Brown Wins Three For The Flyers Against Indianapolis

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. - Adam Brown claimed three of the Flyers' 10 event wins, setting two pool records in the process, but the University of Indianapolis men (101-82) and women (108-78) earned the dual-meet victory Saturday afternoon at the Lewis University Pool.

Brown finished first in the 100 butterfly (53.01), the 500 freestyle (4:52.71) and the 1650 freestyle (16:36.50), setting pool records with his times in the 500 freestyle and 1650 freestyle.

Michael Lapustin broke his own pool record in the 100 backstroke (53.00 on 11/14/03) with a 52.93 first-place effort.

Jeff Martin and Jevgenijs Pesins were the other two swimmers to earn event wins for the Lewis men. Martin was fastest in the 100 freestyle (49.83), while Pesins took first in the 200 freestyle (1:47.83).

The Lewis women earned two individual wins, as Stephanie White-Olson won the 100 backstroke (1:08.24) and Mary Jung beat out the field in the 500 freestyle (5:17.48).

The Flyer women also posted relay wins in the 400 freestyle (4:04.69) and the 400 medley (4:07.01). Andrea Freisleben, Trisha Meyerchick, Britta Pearson and Tracey Kueltzo swam the freestyle relay, while Jenny Byers, White-Olson, Michelle Sliva and Jung participated in the medley.

Indianapolis was responsible for five of the eight pool records set in the meet. Kristen Lund broke her own pool record in the 100 butterfly (1:00.20), Ellie Miller set a new mark in the 200 freestyle (1:57.25) and Katie Murray set a new 400 IM standard (4:37.39).

Drew Hastings, one of four individual winners for the Greyhound men, set a new pool best in the 400 IM (4:08.94). Indianapolis swimmers Kieran O'Neill, Hanno Ahonen, Hastings and Jeremy Lindauer set a new pool mark in the 400 freestyle relay with a time of 3:14.03.

The Flyer women return to the pool on Saturday when they travel to face Northern Michigan. The men's team is idle this week.
