White-Olson Wins 100 Yard Breaststroke In Day One Of UIndy Invitational

INDIANAPOLIS - Senior Stephanie White-Olson won the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:10.71 on Friday at the UIndy Invitational, a three team meet also featuring Grand Valley State University. The Flyers also had five swimmers record second place finishes in day one of the two day meet.

Freshman Deirdre Mikolajcik came in second in the women's 200 yard freestyle (1:57.85) and the 100 yard backstroke (1:02.39). Mikolajcik, freshman Allie Henges, freshman Kayla Muir and sophomore Nicole Marano finished third in the 200 yard freestyle relay with a time of 1:45.05.

Sophomore Jared Zimmer's time of 1:47.45 in the 200 yard freestyle was good for second place. Freshman Ruth Bass finished second in the 200 yard individual medley with a time of 2:18.13.

Senior Adam Brown's second place finish (16:33.16) highlighted the Flyers' performance in the 1650 yard freestyle in which Lewis swimmers took second through fourth place. Zimmer grabbed the third spot, stopping the clock at 16:43.88. Freshman Kevin Coates was next with a 16:51.19 performance.

Henges came in fourth in the 200 yard freestyle (2:00.86). Sophomore Jason Ament grabbed fourth place in the men's 200 yard freestyle (1:49.68). Muir finished fourth in the 100 yard backstroke (1:03.84). In the men's 100 yard backstroke sophomore Adam Olszeski (55.39) also came in fourth. Sophomore Aidan Murphy took fourth in the 50 yard freestyle (23.28). Sophomore Aaron Olszeski touched the wall at 2:07.11 in the 200 yard individual medley also good for a fourth place finish. In the 200 yard freestyle relay the team of freshman Evan Childers, Ament, junior Greg Marx and freshman Allan Sliva took came in fourth as well (1:32.60).

The Flyers are back in the pool tomorrow for the second day of the UIndy Invitational.
