Head Coach Jennifer Arndt enters her third season at the helm of the Lewis University men's and women's swimming programs. Arndt has continued to build on the success of the eight-year-old program by implementing a thorough conditioning and tapering regimen that maximizes student-athlete potential. In her two years, Arndt has coached four of her swimmers to eight All-American performances, including the first male All-American in school history. Arndt was recently named to the the NCAA Swimming and Diving Rules Committee and the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Executive Board as the NCAA Division II representative for women's swimming. Arndt joins the Flyers after completing a decorated career at the University of Michigan. She swam four years for the Wolverines and helped the team claim Big Ten championships in 1997, 1998 and 2001. She was a co-captain in 1999-00 and earned All-Big Ten honors as a backstroker and relay member in 1997, 1999 and 2001. She also was a two-time Big Ten champion as a member of the 800-yard freestyle relay and earned NCAA All-America honors in the event. In addition to her athletic achievements, Arndt garnered Michigan's Academic Achievement Award and was academic All-Big Ten. A core team member of Michigan Peer Advisors Creating Trust (M-PACT), Arndt served as chairperson and worked to support more than 700 University of Michigan student athletes in their quest to overcome personal challenges. She also worked to help set the mission and goals of M-PACT, and assisted in the development of group prevention and education projects, program implementation and program evaluation. Arndt found time at Michigan to be a member of the Student Leadership Forum, the Student Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC) and chairperson of the Sexual Assault Prevention and Awareness Center (SAPAC). In each role, she served as a mediator between the group and the athletic department to help facilitate the goals of each group within the athletic department. Arndt's high school career led her back to her alma mater as an assistant coach during the summers of 2000 and 2001. She was a two-time captain at Ashwaubenon (Wis.) High School, while being a three-time state champion in the 100 backstroke and a high school All-American. Arndt graduated from Michigan in 2001 with a bachelor of science degree in kinesiology. She will take graduate classes at Lewis and reside in Romeoville. |
