Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis University redshirt sophomore outside hitter Geoff Powell (Claremont, Calif./Claremont) and redshirt junior setter BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) were named 2013 Volleyball Magazine NCAA All-Americans, the publication announced on Wednesday (June 5).

Powell was named to the First Team while Boldog earned Second Team honors, after being named to the Third Team in 2012, to mark back-to-back seasons Lewis has had members earn All-America status.

Powell paced the Flyers in kills (385) and kills-per-set average (3.68), which put him 14th nationally. He also tallied 173 digs and 75 total blocks (4 solo, 71 block assists) as he was named to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Men's Volleyball All-America Second Team. Powell also earned All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) First Team, MIVA All-Tournament and three MIVA Player of the Week honors.

Boldog also garnered All-MIVA First Team and MIVA All-Tournament honors this season. Earning his second-straight AVCA All-America Second Team honor, Boldog's 10.29 assists-per-set average put him 10th nationally and 150 digs was the fourth-most on the Flyers squad. He also tallied 61 kills and 75 total blocks (6 solo, 69 block assists).

“BJ and Geoff both had a tremendous year for us and I'm thrilled to see Volleyball Magazine recognize them,” Lewis head men's volleyball coach Dan Friend said. “They both helped the team raise its level of play throughout the year.”

“They bring an exciting brand of volleyball to the gym with their energy, athleticism and work ethic,” Friend continued. “It will be great to have both of them returning to help us to compete for another MIVA title.”

The Flyers have had a total of 12 players to account for 17 Volleyball Magazine All-American accolades in program history.

The duo led the No. 10 Flyers to a 20-10 finish and captured the squad's second-straight MIVA regular-season title.
