Romeoville, Ill. – Lewis University redshirt junior setter BJ Boldog (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) is one of five men's volleyball players nationwide to be named to the 2013 Capital One Academic All-America Men's At-Large Team, as voted by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Boldog was named to the Division II Men's At-Large Third Team.

"It's awesome that BJ is recognized on a national stage for his combination of academics and athletics," Lewis head men's volleyball coach Dan Friend said. "BJ is an excellent role model, on and off the court, as to what we want at Lewis for a Flyer athlete."

"I'm looking forward to having one more year with BJ and all the excellent qualities that he brings to our program."

Boldog, who owns a 3.8 cumulative grade-point-average as a marketing major, is the first Lewis men's volleyball student-athlete to garner the award during the Friend era. He is also a four-time Academic All-MIVA and Delahanty Award honoree for academic excellence among student-athletes at Lewis.

Earning his second-straight American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America Second Team honor, Boldog's 10.29 assists-per-set average put him 10th nationally and his 150 digs has him fourth on the Flyers squad. He also tallied 61 kills and 75 total blocks (6 solo, 69 block assists).

Boldog is a two-time All-Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (MIVA) First Team and All-Tournament selection. He was also recently named as a Volleyball Magazine NCAA All-American Second Team honoree.

The setter led the No. 10 Flyers to their second-straight MIVA regular-season title in 2013 and finished with a 20-10 record.
