Romeoville, Ill. -
The Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced on Tuesday (May 7) that Lewis University assistant women's tennis coach Miljana Jocic has been named the ITA Midwest Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Jocic played a key role in helping the Flyers to a record of 15-5 and helped mentor GLVC Player of the Year Zsofia Lanstiak (Budapest, Hungary/Karinthy Frigyes Gimnazium) and All-GLVC performer Zsofia Kranczicki (Eger, Hungary/Szilagyi Erzsebet Gimnazium es Kollegium). Lanstiak is the first repeat winner of the award since Lewis' Yuliya Kuznets (Vernon Hills, Ill./) was the league's top performer in 2004 and 2005. The Budapest, Hungary native finished the regular-season with a singles record of 27-1, including her current 23-match winning streak.

She along with Kranczicki are ranked No. 4 in the country and had a record of 26-2 in 2012-13, including a 16-match winning streak to end the season. The Hungarian duo's only losses came against the No. 1 ranked team in the country. Kranczicki finished the 2012-13 season with a singles record of 21-4.

"Miljana did a great job for us and the award is well deserved," Lewis head women's tennis coach Brett Bridel said. "She is very dedicated to our goal of striving for excellence in the classroom and on the tennis court.

"Miljana was able to connect and communicate with our team in a very professional manner and she was instrumental in our success this past season," Bridel continued. "She has a wonderful personality and is an absolute joy to work with everyday.

"I feel extremely blessed to have Miljana as part of our team."
