Romeoville, Ill. - Lewis University head men's basketball coach
Scott Trost announced on Monday (Apr. 16) that Kyle Nelson (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) has signed a National Letter of Intent to play for the Flyers beginning in the 2012-13 campaign.
Nelson, a 6-foot-8, 210 pound forward/center, joins early signees Paul Baumgart (Canton, Mich./Canton), Brad Foster (New Lenox, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central) and David Heckman (Indianapolis, Ind./Roncalli) as the newest members of the Flyer family.
"We are very excited to add Kyle to our basketball family," Trost said. "He epitomizes what we are looking for in a player here at Lewis.
"He is a very good student and he combines that with a tremendous desire to be the best player he can be," Trost continued. "I think he will be an outstanding player in the GLVC."
As a senior, Nelson helped St. Charles North to the Upstate 8 River Championship, as he averaged 16.7 points, 8.0 rebounds and 3.0 blocks-per-game. For his efforts, Nelson was named the
Kane County Chronicle and
St. Charles Republican Player of the Year, as well as being named to the
Elgin Courier and
Daily Herald All Area Teams. He is also an All-Conference Upstate 8 selection and a two-time Academic All Conference honoree.
